2017 Founder's Day Dinner

We held our 2017 Founders' Day Dinner on Sunday, March 26 with Creighton University's Erin Walcek Averett, president of the Lincoln-Omaha Archaeological Institute of America. Guests enjoyed dinner and Erin's fantastic presentation!

Film & Forum

On Thursday, February 23, Omaha Phi Beta Kappa screened the film Island of Lemurs: Madagascar (IMAX film) followed by a Q&A session. In the evening, Visiting Scholar Patricia C. Wright gave a lecture about her work saving lemurs from extinction in Madagascar. Both events were held at Creighton University.

Previous Founder's Day Dinners

Every year, the Association hosts Founder’s Day dinners for its members that feature a local speaker. The 2016 dinner featured Gintaras Duda, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Physics at Creighton University. His lecture was titled “Living in a Dark Universe: Everything You Thought You Knew about Cosmology is Wrong.”

 

In 2015, the featured speaker was Theodore E. Burk, Ph.D., Professor of Biology at Creighton University, who gave his lecture, “The Passenger Pigeon of Our Time? The Plight of the Monarch Butterfly.
